Ramsay admits to ‘stealing’ wife Tana after seeing her: ‘She looked like a young Julia Roberts.’

Gordon Ramsay and his wife, Tana Ramsay, have an origin story far from the meet-cute we often hear about. The two, married for almost 30 years and parents of six children, are considered by many to be #relationshipgoals.
However, when they first met, she was not only his pal’s girlfriend but definitely not an admirer. In his six-part Netflix documentary series Being Gordon Ramsay, he recalled their introduction.
“Tana was driving the car and I was sat in the back seat looking at my mate going, ‘Oh my God your girlfriend is f—–g gorgeous,” Gordon said. “She looked like a young Julia Roberts, and she brought this level of excitement like no other. I’m not sure that’s what Tana said when she met me. I got the feeling she wasn’t a big fan.”
“I thought he was really arrogant, really full of himself,” Tana said, confirming his thoughts. “He used to really irritate me.”
But then, in a strange twist of fate, they met again a short time later under different circumstances: they were both single. Their second meeting went much better.
“We ended up chatting one night and chatted all night,” Tana recalled. “I must have fancied him.”
Ramsay would go on to become a larger-than-life personality known around the world. In 1998, he opened his first solo restaurant, which earned three Michelin stars in 2001. In 1999, his fiery temper became known to the public after the premiere of the documentary series Boiling Point. But when Tana met him in 1992, he was still working his way up.
“The amazing ambition was there, absolute dedication,” Tana said. “He’s always been someone who dreams big, but he’s just Gordon to me.”
Tana has published several cookbooks, including Tana Ramsay’s Family Kitchen and Tana Ramsay’s Real Family Food. She’s acknowledged in the past that her cooking style is much different than Ramsay’s, but her kids seem to prefer it. Ramsay and their daughter, Tilly Ramsay, participated in a 2020 TikTok challenge in which they chose one of two options while dancing off-screen. When “Mum’s Cooking” and “Dad’s Cooking” popped up on the screen, Ramsay chose Dad’s, while Tilly chose Mum’s.
